My first Dead show. What a start! I was so impressed I wrote a review the next morning. I'd heard great lead guitar live before (Clapton, Winter, Stills) but never noticed supportive playing like that of Bobby and Phil. Years later, on hearing a replay of this concert I recognized that Jerry was on fire that night, also. Loved the Riders openinmg, espercially "Down in the Boondocks" and "Last Lonely Eagle". Was floored when Dead did "El Paso", a favorite song of mine to sing and play. Terriffic "St.Stephen". Yes, Jerry was on his knees on "Hard to Handel". And the sound! Even then their PA was way superior to anything I'd ever heard.
