Matt's notes:
first "Candyman"
The show was promoted by a guy named Jim Tarbell(who also ran the Ludlow Garage). After the gig, he paid the band in fine Persian rugs since it didn't make much money
Thanks Matt!
Band complains about monitors throughout the show
Big thanks to John/jpc3 for marking & tagging the tracks

More from Matt
According to the story I heard from Dave Boswell, Jim Tarbel inherited a bunch of fine Persian rugs and would pay lots of the bands that would come through the Ludlow Garage that way and the bands knew this coming in. Apperantly, word was out that the Ludlow Garage was a hip place to play so the bands didn't care. Imagine that happening today in the age of ticketmaster! As far as this 4-3-70, Will's dub off the MR is the lowest lineage you'll find from this, and despite the monitor buzz is a wonderful show. The acoustic numbers really shine like the 'FOTD' with diff. lyrics and also sports the finest version of 'Katie Mae'IMHO. The 'deep elem' and the first ever 'candyman' aren't bad either. Also of note.. According to local legend during the Lemon Pipers set, all the Pranksters and the GD came out and did a 30 min. version of 'My Green Tamborine' complete with a very drunk Pigpen on tamborine, Mickey on the cowbell(of course!!) and Ken Kesey on lead vocals/manic raps..LOL ha ha, just kiddin'... Actually, this was a Pat Lee(the naked pole guy from Veneta) hallucination... - Format
